stop labeling music!

sometimes i even find myself doing it because its easier to convey a point that way. but wtf?

why label something??

i mean, if its all time low and they are all like 'we're pop/punk, call us that' then no one can argue. but if aretha franklin walked over to me and told me she performed jazz/soul/pop/reggae, who am I to disagree? am i going to look her in the face and say 'uh ms franklin, no the music you have been performing since before i was born is actually called r&b/soul, you're such an idiot!' haha.

i guess letting the hipsters have their fun with labels is ok every so often but whatever, im just over it.
